- The yearly call for competition for the Public Design Festival in Milan requests the design of temporary installations in 2x5m car park spaces in the centre. The proposal suggests the public to actively participate to the process of building a small pavilion representing an urban oasis. The public will read the instructions that define the guidelines to assemble a 3D puzzle made with punched cardboard pieces. The honeycomb cardboard pieces, taken from the main cardboard wall and assembled following the instructions, will give shape to a camelus bactrianus (a camel) and a phoenix dactylifera (date palm). The puzzle is made up by over 50 pieces and requires an estimated assembly time of about 3 hours. Once the Public Design Festival is over, anyone will be allowed to take a piece of the pavilion as a souvenir, or someone could decide to adopt both the camel and the palm and provide them a new home. Otherwise the pavilion could be dismantled and all the cardboard could be recycled.
